Taken right outside from where I was staying... a storm was passing by and it just looked like an awesome picture... the Rockies are right in the background...
I'm asking for critiques and... well, God knows how good my skills are... I say it sucks but when I showed everyone else, they were gasping and stuff... who knows, it's probably bad...
The Smoking Mountain has got a really nice effect here.
For me the clouds reminds me more on little spirits who want to be free! It's very well made! Same on the sides, how nature and the human world meet. It shows how these two world can't live without the other one, and no one can be bigger then the other.
The colours come out really well too! I like the shapes of the grey, blue and green colours, the little brown gives there more effect to the eyes!
I give high rates in vision and technique, originality also, impact can be better Nice job, Hana! Make more picture like this one, or better ones!
The photo, taken by *Hana-Bakemono, using a simple digital camera, is very effective.
The use of the road and river to the left and right, complete a leading effect, drawing ones eyes to the main background. The road and river also add to the effect given, due to bands of colour, along with the embankment to the left side.
The clouds and mountains are a nice contrast to the lower half of the photograph. In that its lighter and simpler, compared to the lower half, which is more diverse in colour. In the upper half, I feel that a bit more contrast would be more effective. But that it down to personal taste.
I'm not a real photography expert so I would be unsure on all of the technicalities that would make the picture, but it does look pretty good.
For the close part of the picture it sorta looks like a parallel area of the town itself and the nature. Like the road, and then the river. They're both sorta similar; networks and whatnot.
And seeing the contrast of the mountains towards the closer areas of the picture adds a calming effect, topped off with the clouds transferring to a lighter color near the top.
I do remember in my one photography class that angles are what catches the viewers attention. The eye tends to ignore straight lines. In this case (for me at least) the road and river catch my eye first, then the left slope, then the mountains in the background, which lead to the houses.
I love it when clouds hover low like that, it really makes them pop out. Hopefully you'll get the attention of a good critique to properly evaluate your work, Hana.
